                                                  Cavaletti Workshop/Clinic

Trot poles, or cavaletti in trot, increase flexion in all the horse’s leg joints as well as increase movement
through the horse’s back. These exercises build strength in the muscles, improve flexibility in all the joints,
and aid muscular control and coordination. Trotting poles particularly increases flexion at the hip, activating
the horse’s hip flexors. Offering your horse this kind of work is excellent for all disciplines of riding.
Our clinic offers instruction for beginner, intermediate and advanced rider/horse pairs. Instruction will be in
groups of 4 to 6 riders at a time, for 60 to 90 minutes of instruction per group. The groups will be divided as
follows:

  • Beginner group will introduce the basic concept of trot pole work, with a single pole, beginning at awalk, and working up to multiple poles at a controlled trot.

  • Intermediate group will introduce trotting over the poles and incorporate patterns designed to build strength and balance

  • Advanced group will work designated patterns at a trot, and incorporate some canter work
