Trot poles, or cavaletti in trot, increase flexion in all the horse’s leg joints as well as increase movement through the horse’s back. These exercises build strength in the muscles, improve flexibility in all the joints, and aid muscular control and coordination. Trotting poles particularly increases flexion at the hip, activatingthe horse’s hip flexors. Offering your horse this kind of work is excellent for all disciplines of riding.
